As we continue expanding our hardware and AI platforms, we are seeking an Electrical Engineering Technologist to support the design, development, and testing of our next-generation hardware systems, including drone payloads, LiDAR camera systems, battery-powered devices, and solar-powered battery systems.
The Role
In this role, you will work closely with our engineering and AI teams to design, prototype, and test electrical systems used in SGA’s advanced sensing and drone-based technologies. You will help transform innovative ideas into reliable hardware solutions for real-world agricultural applications.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on hardware development, prototyping, testing, and problem-solving in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Design & Development
- Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for drone payload hardware, LiDAR camera systems, battery-powered devices, and solar-powered battery systems.
- Develop and implement power distribution systems, signal interfaces, and control electronics.
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Support PCB design, component selection, and embedded electronics integration.
Prototyping & Testing
- Build, assemble, and test electrical prototypes and hardware systems.
- Conduct bench testing, field testing, and troubleshooting of electronic systems.
- Analyze performance issues and recommend design improvements.
- Support the integration of sensors, cameras, LiDAR units, and drone payload components.
Integration & Deployment
- Work with mechanical engineers and AI developers to integrate hardware, sensors, and computing systems.
- Assist in preparing hardware systems for drone integration, deployment, and field operations.
- Help ensure hardware reliability, safety, and compliance with applicable electrical standards.
Documentation & Support
- Maintain clear documentation for system designs, testing procedures, and hardware configurations.
- Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of deployed hardware systems.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical system design, electronics development, or hardware prototyping.
- Experience with embedded electronics, power systems, battery systems, or sensor integration.
- Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium, KiCad, or Eagle is an asset.
- Experience working with battery systems, LiDAR sensors, cameras, drone electronics, or solar-powered systems is highly desirable.
- Strong hands-on skills with electronic testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power analyzers.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and electronic systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.
