Dr. Weiping Zeng, was pleased to be invited by Dr. Michael J. (Mike) Mahon, CEO of Alberta Innovates, to attend the Alberta Innovates Stakeholder Engagement Reception at Studio Bell in Calgary.
The event brought together leaders from government, industry, academia, investment, and Alberta’s broader innovation ecosystem. Dr. Zeng had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Mahon and share SGA’s growth journey, including the progress made in developing and commercializing its Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Geospatial AI (GeoAI) technologies.
SGA is especially grateful for the early funding and support received through Alberta Innovates’ Agri-Food and Bioindustrial Innovation Program. This support played an important role in advancing SGA’s AI research and technology development. Today, the resulting innovations have progressed from research and development to commercial deployment and adoption by government and industry partners.
“We sincerely appreciate the early funding, mentorship, and continued support from Alberta Innovates,” said Dr. Zeng. “It is rewarding to see technologies supported during their early development now successfully commercialized and delivering measurable real-world value.”
With a growing presence in Calgary, SGA looks forward to strengthening its collaboration with Alberta’s innovation ecosystem and continuing to develop practical, scalable AI solutions for agriculture, crop insurance, and geospatial intelligence.
SGA sincerely thanks Dr. Mike Mahon and Alberta Innovates for the invitation and for their continued commitment to supporting Canadian innovation.
