Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Web GIS Developer to lead the development and implementation of our web-based GIS applications. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of GIS technologies, web development, and spatial data analysis. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a passion for innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of web-based GIS applications.
- Develop custom GIS solutions and tools to meet specific project requirements.
- Integrate and manage spatial data from various sources and formats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data scientists, and project managers, to deliver high-quality GIS solutions.
- Ensure the scalability, performance, and security of GIS applications.
- Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in GIS technology and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Geospatial Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in developing web-based GIS applications, including Leaflet, Mapbox, and/or ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript.
- Proficiency in web development technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and relevant frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
- Strong knowledge of GIS technologies and tools, including ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, and open-source GIS libraries.
- Experience with spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud-based GIS solutions and services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI applications in geospatial analysis.
- Experience with mobile GIS application development.
- Familiarity with geospatial standards and interoperability protocols.
